Click the Button Steam Cloud and Saves

LoopCap turned Cloud on one day after launch. Here is what that actually means for a two-hour clicker.

Updated:

Click the Button Steam Cloud

What changed on 27 August 2026

At launch on 26 August 2026, this wiki — and the Steam store — treated Click the Button as a local-save Godot client. LoopCap had not listed Steam Cloud. That was accurate for one day.

On 27 August 2026, LoopCap posted the community note “Update: bug fixes, Steam Cloud and more.” One of the three “what’s new” bullets is blunt: Steam Cloud is enabled: your progress syncs across your PCs. The store now lists the Steam Cloud category next to Single-player, Achievements, Save Anytime, and Keyboard Only. If an older page on this site still said Cloud was missing, it was describing launch morning, not the current depot.

The same note also says the game now uses your Steam account name instead of your computer name, and that a cursor size slider landed in the menu. Those belong on settings. This page is the save map.

What Cloud does, and what it does not

Cloud syncs progress between Windows PCs signed into the same Steam account. That is the promise LoopCap published. It is not a time machine. It is not a second copy you can roll back from the overlay if you prestige at the wrong moment. It is not a way to share a 100% with a friend. The game is still single-player. Family Sharing remains a store tag, not a shared-session mode.

Save anytime was already a store feature. Cloud does not replace that habit. Close the client when you need to. Let Steam finish writing. If you yank the power during a click storm, Cloud cannot invent a file that never flushed.

The 27 August note also fixed manual saving not saving everything correctly. If you still have a launch-day habit of alt-F4 after a big Dungeon Master! session, use the in-game save once, then quit. Then let Cloud upload. That order matters more than any wiki ritual.

Demo, full game, and DLC

Treat Demo 4805850 and full 3946950 as separate apps until LoopCap says otherwise. Cloud on the paid client does not magically finish They’re So Cute! for a Demo-only install. The Supporter Pack (5110650) is cosmetic. It does not add a second Cloud slot or skip Born Collector!.

If you played the Demo on PC A and bought the full game on PC B, do not assume the Demo file is the full-game file. Launch the app you mean. The 27 August patch is for the product LoopCap is patching — the live full client plus the store Cloud flag — not a promise that every Demo prestige crash is now a Cloud restore.

When you should still copy a file yourself

Cloud is new. New Cloud on a small Godot title is exactly when you keep a folder copy before a risky rebirth. Demo players already learned that rebirth after opening a large number of chests could crash. Launch’s merge upgrade is what people thanked. Cloud arriving a day later does not make prestige free.

Copy before:

  • A rebirth or merge confirm you do not want to replay
  • Experiments with community Attributes.tres display tweaks (troubleshooting)
  • Moving from a machine that was offline when Cloud first enabled

Copy after a clean quit, not mid-click. There are no promo codes that restore a deleted save (codes). Autoclickers can still crash the process; a crashed process is a bad moment to trust an upload.

Conflicts, two PCs, and “progress vanished”

If you leave the game open on a laptop, then play on a desktop, Steam can see two writers. Quit one client fully. Wait for the Cloud icon in Steam to settle. Then open the other machine. This wiki will not invent LoopCap’s conflict UI labels. If both PCs show different chest counts, pick the one you just finished playing, quit, and let it upload before you touch the other.

“Progress vanished” after the patch is more often the wrong app ID, a black-screen boot (also named in the 27 August fixes), or achievements that failed to talk to Steam (also named — they were fixed). Check overlay ticks against the in-game collection. Achievements quotes official text. If the overlay is empty but the collection is full, wait for a Steam restart before you wipe anything.

How this fits a 70–120 minute campaign

Most players 100% in 70–120 minutes. Extra 1,000-of-each and golden cuties add about 1–2 hours. Cloud exists so a second Windows box can continue that evening, not so you can treat Click the Button like a live-service MMO. Reviews sit Very Positive (94% of 1,245 as of late August 2026); launch sat Overwhelmingly Positive past 500. List $3.99, launch cut near $3.39, introductory offer seen through 9 September 2026.

If you only needed one sentence: Cloud is on, sync is PC-to-PC, still save before rebirth, still no codes. Then go click. The 100% route does not change because a file now travels. The updates page quotes the rest of that 27 August note — chest grouping, last-upgrade crash, off-screen final notification, wrong item achievement description. Read that if you think Cloud is the only thing that shipped.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about the game.

Does Click the Button have Steam Cloud?

Yes, as of LoopCap’s 27 August 2026 patch. The store lists the Steam Cloud category. Progress syncs across PCs on the same Steam account.

Will Cloud restore a deleted save?

Not as a promised rollback tool. Quit cleanly so the file can upload. Keep a folder copy before rebirth. There are no promo codes for lost saves.

Does Cloud work between Demo and the full game?

Treat Demo 4805850 and full 3946950 as separate apps. Do not assume a Demo file completes full-game gacha or the larger skill tree.

I played on two PCs and counts disagree.

Quit one client fully, let Steam finish the Cloud upload, then open the other. Do not leave both running.

Is Steam Cloud required to 100%?

No. Save anytime still works locally. Cloud is convenience for a second PC, not a Steam achievement.
