Chests Explained in Click the Button

Chests are the campaign engine

LoopCap’s Click the Button (26 August 2026, Windows, Godot, ~300 MB) feeds almost every Steam tick through chests. You click the button. A chest opens. An item lands. Money moves. That loop is how a 70–120 minute 100% happens, and how the extra 1–2 hours of 1,000-count goals happen. There is no shop that sells the item pool, no promo-code crate, and no listed Steam Cloud that will restore a deleted chest log. Save anytime locally. Keyboard-only still means one press per click.

This page will not publish fake drop percentages or a pity timer LoopCap has not posted. It will tell you what Steam actually asks for, how the six rarities are labeled, why duplicates are content, and how community “ghost chests” should be filed as bugs instead of farmed.

Types versus rarities

Chest type is the container. Rarity is the item inside. Dungeon Master! is official Steam text: open every chest at least 1,000 times. That is a type counter, not a rarity counter. If the UI shows several chest styles, each style needs the 1,000. If a style never increments, stop using autoclickers (they can crash), note whether gacha was open (it pauses the sim), and read troubleshooting.

Rarity uses LoopCap’s names mapped to Steam’s labels:

  • Broken = common
  • Nice = uncommon
  • Expensive = rare
  • Robust = epic
  • Nocturnal = legendary
  • Extraterrestrial = mythical

Six achievements are discover-all for those bands: Broken Collection through Extraterrestrial Collection. “Discover all” means unique checks. You can unlock Extraterrestrial Collection and still be nowhere on Born Collector!, which wants 1,000 or more of each item. The collections page is the rarity companion. This page is the chest companion.

Duplicates are the real clock

Old guides sometimes claimed extras did nothing. That is wrong for 100%. Born Collector is a stack achievement. Every extra Broken widget still counts toward 1,000. Completing a unique set is a midpoint, not a finish. In a short campaign that is why some people stay two to four hours: not because the drop table is an MMO, but because 1,000 × item types is arithmetic.

Keep generating the items you already discovered. Do not pause the sim on gacha while you still need chest volume. Do not prestige on a Demo binge if you care about those counters — Demo rebirth after many chests was a crash report; launch’s merge upgrade is what players thanked. See rebirth.

What you cannot steer

There is no published save-scum for a chest outcome. There is no documented “finish Broken to delete Broken from the pool.” Play the button. Watch Steam. If a unique will not appear, keep opening chests rather than inventing a ritual. How to Play is the systems overview. How to Make Money is how spend feeds more opens per minute without naming fake skills.

Visual stingers for rarer drops are feedback, not a drop-rate slider. Camera comfort and volume live in settings; they do not change Dungeon Master math. The controls page covers the Demo 1280×720 fullscreen corner if the picture itself is the problem.

Ghost chests

Players report chests that appear, linger, or fail to behave like a normal open. Treat those as bug reports. They are not a seventh rarity. They are not a prestige currency. They are not a type you should try to log for Dungeon Master unless the live UI names them as a type — and even then, mail LoopCap at [email protected] with app ID (Demo 4805850 vs full 3946950), whether an autoclicker was running, and whether gacha was open. Do not download stranger save files to “fix ghosts.”

The no-commentary clip on this page is pacing, not a loot table. Use it to see the live chest cadence. Use Steam for ticks.

Demo versus full chest work

The Demo (Very Positive; some people finish it in ~40 minutes) teaches clicking and chests. The full game (app 3946950) adds gacha, new items, new upgrades, a larger skill tree, cosmetics, and merge. Dungeon Master and Born Collector belong on the full client if you want the complete extra-goal block. The $1.99 Supporter Pack does not open extra chest types. Skins are skins.

For a 100% evening, chests are the minutes you should protect. Gacha is a series of short, closed visits. Rebirth is optional and dangerous on a Demo binge. Autoclickers are how you turn a 90-minute list into a crash. Open chests on purpose. That is the whole advanced strategy, and it is why this page does not end with a 400-word sermon about “consistency versus bursts” copied from every other guide on the site.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to common questions about the game.

Can I choose what a chest contains?

No published control exists. Chests are random within the live table. This wiki will not invent a reroll trick.

What is Dungeon Master?

Official Steam text: open every chest at least 1,000 times. Count chest types, not rarity names.

Do duplicates help after I finish a rarity set?

Yes for Born Collector, which needs 1,000 or more of each item. Unique discovery and stacks are different goals.

What are ghost chests?

Community bug reports of chests that appear or linger wrongly. Not a secret type. See Troubleshooting if counters stall.

Does gacha replace chests?

No. Gacha is a full-game machine for cuties and it pauses the sim while open. Chest items still come from chests.
